Need help. About to be pending, currently on f-1 visa

Hey guys. So I am currently on an f-1 student visa and my husband and I are about to send off our package. I have an issue and wondered of anyone has experienced this. My drivers license expires in October, by which point I should be pending status, and I know my local dps place likes to see paperwork to renew a license, but as I will be pending I won't technically be on the visa anymore. Has anyone experienced this and knows a solution? I will be in school this fall and I want to figure this out ahead of time!

You say you are still in school which means you still have a valid I-20?

you can renew your license with your F1 visa, I-94 and I-20. Just like when you first applied for DL.

That's what I did.

But it might be different between states, you should contact your local dmv for more specific information.

Thankyou! Appreciate the help. Did you have a long time left on your visa? Mine expires in a few months so I am not sure if they won't do it because of that. I will have to check.

Visa? My visa expired long time ago. I think you mean I-20?

My I-20 is valid till 2015, so it's not a problem for me.

Oh so it is not a problem if your student visa expires while your here as long as your still in school? I thought you had to have it renewed because If it expired while you were here you go out of status! Shows what I know lol

No, Visa gives the permission to enter this country.

While you remain inside of this country, your I-20 controls your status

If your I-20 expires, you need to go home even you have a brand new visa.

so go check out how much time left on your I-20, That's what really matters.

You only need to renew visa if you leave this country and want to get back in again.

But you can only use the I-20 to get a new license if you maintain your student status, while your case is pending. I will be dropping out of school after this coming semester and will have to wait for my EAD to arrive, although my I-20 is valid through May 2014. They basically could issue me a new license if I did not mention the whole currently not in school part, but if I was to get pulled over or such I'd be in big trouble!//.
