What an experience!!! As a woman from the region in Mindanao specifically in Digos (near Davao City), there's that  dreaded feeling of being lost in a new place where you are not familiar with specially to such place like Manila. Good thing that there are people who are willing and so helpful to guide a woman in a very busy, congested, roller coaster ways in Manila. As it happened, I was staying in Sucat, Paranaque with my distant relatives.I take things lightly from the start that things would be happening according to what I hoped to happen. One, that I be able to have a good day for taking my medical and second I would not be delayed of heading towards St Luke's Medical Extension Clinic with a good confidence that I have a male companion with me who are familiar with the place.I was glad that there was someone who had helped me out in locating the clinic for when looking at the map for it took time for me to analyze because I am very new to the place.

At 7 in the morning, me and my companion headed to St Lukes from Paranaque.I was told that going to St Lukes would only take 30 minutes(with private vehicle) to 1 hour when taking FX ride.Unfortunately, Typhoon Gener had let me experienced such way as to find other means of avoiding being helpless on the road inside the vehicle, being stranded with a very heavy rain & with the clock ticking for an accomplishment for the day to have this Medical Exam. We took a trisikad (3 cycled pedaled vehicle, good for two people)We took the flooded road going to St Lukes with the hope that we won't be blown away by the strong wind and be hit by fast moving cars, dealing with angry and uncaring drivers with irritating blown horns. It was then a relief after asking several people :help: on the road that we finally located the Clinic. Upon entering St Luke's at 10:30 am,I was thankful that I did a preregistration online.I was directed to a lady in the reception area at the side of the room in the ground floor with noticeable camera beside her which she used afterwards of taking a picture shot of me. She let me sign this DS 157 form after taking all the requirements she need.It made me hesitant of filling out the form with a red ink check/tick she put in the form since it stated there that you could only do the signing with the presence of the consular Officer with the specified date there.I've asked again and decided to follow what they want.Afterwards I was instructed then to proceed to 5th floor. Due to my excitement :dancing: and happiness I forgot to take the elevator and that when reaching the top floor the Guard roaming around have seen my nose flaring :hehe::bonk: He reminded me that theres such way to make things easier  Use the Elevator...I just told him I let myself have a warm up  to prepare me for my Vital signs :bonk: which made him smile...It made me still energetic even going to different floors because of the idea that despite having experienced this typhoon and of having a hard time locating St Lukes I was still that lucky for not dealing with a long line of applicants taking the exam.It was a Wonderful journey for even how the situation was not that good I was early in finishing everything at 12:30 noontime. Thank God! Ive passed the Exam !a Male Nurse gave me the vaccination of 5 shots. He asked me to where I worked as a Nurse and even he was that stranger to me still the respect and the silent bond was there for being brother & sister in the profession :innocent: .It was a joyous :dancing: Day for Me despite the bad situation...

:wow: You had a scary trip to St. Lukes. :o

I guess the typhoon was a blessing in disguise. Very few people braved the weather to go to St. Lukes. It's good that you made it to St. Lukes because you had the quickest medical I've ever heard of!

Thank you for sharing your experience, Nurse Julie. :star:

(Are you studying for the NCLEX-RN already?)

I have been hoping not to experience again such typhoon at a very important event, considering now staying in a nearest hotel to US Embassy...

Yeah....but I think it was just bad luck. I think you will have sunny day for your interview.

I will put my wife in hotel, because it is 5 hours from her place to embassy.

I am a bit confused why they need DS-157 in the medical exam? I thought DS-157 is only required at the visa interview.

Hi, I was there on the same day too..hehehe.. I got there at 730am, we took a cab from sucat paranaque too and got stucked in roxas blvd flood..hahaha. Good thing the cab driver decided to went tru that knee deep flood. I was done by 930am and came back at noon time for the result.. I got my immunization and result the same day by 3pm I was out of st lukes w a cleared result. As a treat I watched the healing movie at robinsons mall..hehehehe.. The process took one day because of the typhoon gener, so less applicants scheduled their medical that day.. In normal days its a 2 days hurdle and a lot of patience in waiting. I should say I was still lucky for I had no choice but to continue my medical that day for I traveled from cebu and my return ticket was on the next day.lol
