Hello, everybody

I am a chinese girl and in a relationship with an american guy who is 2 years older than me. We met each other in person on 8,17,2010, before that we met eachother on a website called sharedtalk and talked about 2 years before we met. Anyways, we decided to get ready to be married, and NOW there are some questions I need someone to HELP US!!!!!

He came to China to meet me and stayed and worked there, we lived togeather for a year. I applyed for a B2 visa on May of 2011, that was a one-year multiple entry visa. We came to america last year to visit, and then went back to China, after we worked and saved some money, we came back here again under my b2 visa on March, 2012. I can stay here until September, we don't want to be seperate so we decided now is the time to get married. How can we do this by ourselves? what kinda papers will we need to fill out? how much will it probably cost.

We read something about the visa type and heard about some proxy such as Rapidvisa, are they reliable? please tell me what's the first step we need to take now.

we have looked at a CR1 visa and file for adjustment of status at the same time, the paperwork is a little daunting and I have estimates from lawyers with fees of $2500 and processing fees of $1490

And also what if we have to go back to China, can we do it there? which way will be better? do it in America or in China?

I hope someone can shed some light on this for me, thank you, everyone!!!

Be very cautious and get all the facts before you do anything. If you enter the US on a B2 Visitor visa with the intent to marry, your visa application may be denied due to fraud. You can certainly do everything without a lawyer if you are comfortable with it. There are some excellent threads on this site that will walk you through all the things to consider before you get married.

Good luck!

You can enter with a B2 with intent to marry, you can't enter with a B2 with intent to stay.

Assuming you did not intend to stay, you need to do this for adjustment of status:

Simple and you don't have to pay a lawyer anything.

Yes, if you plan on filing adjustment of status you should not leave with Advanced Parole or a greencard.

My husband got a 5 year multiple entry b2, but we intended to marry when he visited so he could not stay legally or in good conscience. We filed I130/CR1- he left the country 2 weeks after we married. He was able to return for a 2 month visit this summer with our I130 still pending.

As for Rapid Visa, they are reputable-- not a scam, and they are helpful in helping your organize things. They are not attorneys though. They cannot represent you. With a little extra leg work and reading, VJ members and guides can assist you for free, so you could save the 400$. I am using Rapidvisa, but after spending some time here, I realized it was not necessary. Too late now :P

Unless you are divorced you shouldn't need proof of your singlehood. Check with the county court where you want to get married for their requirements.
