Hello VJ Members,

I have a question. I am a U.S. citizen and am planning to go to Pakistan to live with my husband.I want to file my petition while I am in Pakistan and I have afew questions I need answered.

1. If I file my I-130 petition for my husband where do I send the packet to?

2. Does USCIS accept international money orders for the fees?

3. For the address of the petitioner, should I write my address in U.S.A. or the address in Pakistan?

4. From Pakistan Courier goes via DHL is that okay? or will there be any problem delivering it?

5. WHen I am at the NVC stage, do I have to be physically present in the U.S. during the I-864(Affidavit of Support) or can I stay In Pakistan?

6. I will be having a joint sponser for the I-864, so can my parents fill out the applciation for me and send it to me to sign and I will forward it to NVC?

7. As for the address of the sponsor(me) on the I-864, should I list my U.S. Adress?

8. Will the Embassy in Islamabad let me attend with my husband to the interview?

Please answer all my questions above as much as you know. Thanks so much!

Answers:

1. The address is on the instructions

2. No

3. Using the Pakistan address will likely result in quicker adjudication of your petition

4. DHL is fine

5. You can stay in Pakistan, however, you will need to show that you have maintained or are in the process of reestablishing a US domicile.

6. Yes

7. Since your address at that time would be in Pakistan, use that address

8. This requires a Pakistan specific answer. Some Embassies and Consulates allow the petitioner to be present in the room where the interview is being conducted. However, most don't.
