Newbie here and just starting K-1 package question:

I have provided my fiancee with living support pretty regularly after we started dating seriously. As I am putting the package together, I am wondering if it is a good thing to provide this or not in the package. She is vietnamese, so this will go through the Ho Chi Minh embassy.

On one side, It shows I am "invested" in the relationship. This can be seen as both materialistic and figuratively.

On the other side, It could be misconstrued as she is taking the foreigner for money. (THIS absolutely is not the case)

I do not want a morale or philosophy conversation of right or wrong for providing her with living support for this thread. What i want is an objective opinion to include this in a fiancee package. I don't intend to hide this or lie of course, but is it something i should bring to attention. Help or hurt?

Background: We met in person randomly when I was working a project in Singapore, and she was visiting relatives there. We have know each other over 2.5 yrs. I came back to america a few months after meeting her but kept connections. I was doing work in china a year later and took a side vacation to travel vietnam and of course see her again :content: . We really connected on that trip. After coming back home we continued building the relationship. I attempted to get her a tourist visa to visit america to see if she liked it and a mutual americans friends wedding. Tourist visa denied. So, I visited her which was about 6 months ago. We have decided to be together and now starting process for K-1. In sept. I plan to visit there and have an engagement party with hopes of a K-1 visa in spring/summer 2013.

I can put together what i feel will be a very strong package of history, I have little of the initial meeting in SGP, as we just hung out a few times. But the rest is fairly documented, although looking back I could have done more, (20/20).

Suggestions? Include or not include.

Thanks in advance for your time and experiences.

You are right, the money can be seen both ways. For HCMC it isn't something that I would mention.

Take some time to read through the Vietnam regional forum to prepare for the HCMC "Experience."
