i hope you can make the 18th, I think Marisela will be there too...so that would be 3 of us!

I hope so too, but I'm not going to hold my breathe...I am looking at tickets tonight...looks like about $250 for the plane and abot $56 a night for the hotel...just trying to figure out how to cross la frontera.

Let me know what you find out.

I found a company that will pick you up in El Paso and take you to the hotel for $45...Not too shabby.

Hello my friends..just a quick update. I called the NVC today and the packet was sent yesterday. HOORAY! When I got home tonight there was a message on my machine from my congresswoman (she left the message this morning) saying that she heard back from Juarez that the package was sent and that she will be sending me a letter. Not sure what that will be about, but I'm sure it's the email or something! HOORAY I am very excited! Finally some good news. I thought I was going to be waiting forever...it was in Juarez for 5 weeks before they sent something. So all in all not too shabby I guess. Now the planning on when I will be in Juarez.

Sandi

Sandi,

Congrats!!!! When do you plan on going to Juarez?

Thanks! Trying to coordinate the time off at work. Ideally, the week of 18th of October, but I don't think that will happen. We are looking at the first week of November. I know the consulate will be closed that first Monday, but I think it will be okay.

Sandi

Sandi,

You might see Chinman in Juarez if you go the 18th that would be great to have that support and actually know someone so you won't drive yourself crazy. Have you decided if you are going to do Monday/Tuesday or do you have other days picked out for the medical and interview.

Has anyone heard about the consulate closing on Wednesdays? I know I read somewhere on this thread that they have been closing on some Wednesdays for administrative work.

Andrea

SORRY I posted twice.

SORRY I posted twice.

I am waiting for my work to tell me when a good time would be good for me to take off. Busy time of year. I hope to hear something tomorrow....more like I better hear something tomorrow. I need to make plans.

Yes, it would be great to be down there with someone else. Pacing back and forth and twiddeling our thumbs.

If we go the first week in November they are closed Monday for Dia de los Muertos. So we are thinking medicaL Tuesday and interview Wednesday. I really would like to go in October...November is filled with American and Mexican holidays.

I have heard that they close on like the 2nd or 3rd Wed of each month...I'll have to research that...really research that.

Just to let everyone know, they sent me a copy of Alejandra's letter. Dated 9/24 and i got it today 10/5

it basically says you can come for an open invitation from 8am to 10am except for Mexican and American holidays, and immigrant visa administrative days (last friday of each month).

please see

http://ciudadjuarez.usconsulate.gov/immigr...visa-forms.html

follow all instructions...blah blah blah.

Nothing else was included. The good news is that I don't need to wait for Alejandra to get the letter, or to go have it printed.
