Police Certificates in Canada

How in the world do you get these? I have read so many things and nothing seems to make any sense to me at all. Can these be done while waiting for the NOA2 or do we need the case number from NVC? I do not want to mess this up as I know it costs money to do it.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Yes these can be done while you are waiting for the NOA2. The documents are valid from 1 year of when you got them. For example my fiance got his police certificate June 13, 2012 so it is valid until June 13, 2013. I am not sure where you would get it in Canada but my fiance went to the civil registry in Chile and received all the proper documentation. If you do not know where to get the paper work you could always email the US embassy in Canada. Good luck!

Just search for Chile in the drop down menu and it will give you all the contact information you need for obtaining the police reports. Good luck

My husband got his in Canada, and he had to ask for the Police Certificate Clearance (PCC). It only took a week for him to go pick it up. Hi got his after we recieved the NOA2. I would call ahead and make sure they know what you're talking about before going in. Just explain your situation to them and they should be able to help you out.

You can apply to the RCMP to have a criminal record check done. You can find information here: RCMP criminal record check

At the time I was looking to have one done last fall, they were saying it would take months to have it done through the RCMP. Instead, I made an appointment with the Commissionaires. Link: Commissionaires It took a couple of days to get an appointment, they took my fingerprints and photos and sent it off to the national database. Within days, I had the letter back with the results. It came on RCMP letterhead, showed my photo and fingerprints, and stated there were no criminal records of conviction to be found. This is what I submitted with my paperwork and there was no issue. I don't recall how much it cost, but it was less than $100. The website will give you the details you need. It was quite easy.
