Hello all,

My fiance's application has been at the CSC for 7 months now. We haven't received any RFE's or a NOA2. I spoke with someone at USCIS and they advised they would put a service request in. I haven't heard back and that was to only take 15 days. I'm not sure what more I can do to speed this process along. I'm afraid it's lost somewhere in paperwork. Does anyone have ANY suggestions of what I could do next? We know that the country he's from could be an issue, but he doesn't live there anymore so really we're just confused. Any help from any one would be nice. thank you :)

Begin by calling back and following up your service request. You can also contact your congressman or senator to see if they will inquire on your behalf. They will not even think about it until after 6 months, but you are past that and outside of the normal processing times. They do not have the power to force USCIS into action, but sometimes it does help. Some elected officials don't care, some do. I remember one member making a post about a congressman who told them that they just didn't care. Imagine that. However, we contacted our local congressman and he actually had an office person dedicated to these types of task. They wrote a letter inquiring about our case and we were approved about 7 days later. Now, one could argue that this inquiry was what sparked the approval and then there are others that would argue it was our time to be approved anyhow. Whatever the case may be, I felt better because I was being proactive. Seeing how it is an election year, they may be a tad bit more sympathetic.

Whatever you do, don't sit back and wait. Write letters, send emails, and make phone calls. Be professional and courteous.

Good luck...!

This may present a small problem. But if everything is legit, it should be ok. I have seen it to be more of a problem with petitioners that are women and that are older than their beneficiary. Religion also has been an issue that I have read others post about. Make sure to find other couples here on VJ that have cases similar to yours. They will be able to offer you valuable insight. Be proactive rather than reactive. You still have a lot more to complete before it is finalized. The more information you have, the better off you will be. Best wishes to the both of you.

Thank you both for your responses. My fiance is from.Yemen, but he lives in Saudi. I checked on our status online and it says our case was last updated on 12/02/11. Does this mean it hasn't been touched since 2 days after they received it? I'm kind of going into a nervous panic. Makes me think they saw he was from Yemen and just tossed our case to the side. We are both good caring people. Yes, we are big Muslims, but that shouldn't be a reason not to procesc our case. This is so hurtful, and stressing

Step 1: Contact USCIS national customer service by phone (1-800-375-5283); service request - you have done that.

If they don't reply within 15 days you go to Step 2:

SteP 2: email the service center that has jurisdiction over your case:

California Service Center: csc-ncsc-followup@dhs.gov

Vermont Service Center : vsc.ncscfollowup@dhs.gov

If you don't hear within 21 days go to step 3:

Step 3: If the issue is still not resolved after 21 more days, email the Office of Service Center Operations: SCOPSSCATA@dhs.gov. They say you will receive a response within 10 days!

Crazy right? But these are official procedures! ehhh
