Hi My petition is now on the way to the us embassy in thailand. Could anyone help me here with regard to what is needed to be sent back with the ds-2001 after receiving packet 3? I am bit confused

Thank you

You should download the P 3 now. Fill out the forms and scan them to her if she cant do them herself. She needs to get her police report asap and go get the medical done. You need to send her a 134 form along with a tax transcript for the last tax year. Make sure the case is with the visa section at the embassy before the P 3 is sent.

When that is done she can send in the P 3 docs. That will trigger the interview date.

Please take the time to make sure your situation is understood so we can respond correctly when you post this info.

You dont need a cover letter. Anything that indicates why you need the police report will do. A copy of one of the NOAs for example.

Make a copy of the report and send in the orignial. Or send in a copy and a note saying you are bringing in the OG.

HI

I tried doing that/ I took a copy of the nvc letter to them and they said they needed a letter of request to process it. Do you live in Thailand? I would love to talk to you and ask you how to go about it. My phone no. is 66818456662. or if possible please give me your no.

Thank you

I think it depends on the officer you get when you go in. I know some people have had luck with NOA, some people have not. Best to just flash a few hundred baht and that should get you whatever you need.

There is something wrong with what the OP is doing or saying I think when it comes to obtaining the report. However she is Thai and should know better than to do as you suggest here as far as offering a bribe as you indicate. This could ensure she is charged with corruption & booked into the jail. The last thing anyone wants to do is insult these people in front of others.

Most people know of the level of corruption in Thailand but it must be well understood to enter into it.

She says here that she took a copy of some letter from NVC to them. I doubt they have any idea of what NVC is. Logicly it would work but they dont operate on logic.

It can be true as you say that the officer she got makes the difference. As a Thai I think she should know that but we Thais have a fear of the police that causes us to be very careful in dealing with them.

Well understood?? It is everywhere and for everything. I have never heard of anyone going to jail for corruption, especially at the lower level. I have just spent the past 10 months in Thailand, and lots of time prior to that, want anything done in a timely manner or a little out of the ordinary, you attach a bit of baht and miraculously things get done. Or you just ask is there anyway this can be done, and normally they will tell you the fee they charge.

If you do some searching on some old posts there are plenty of instances where people have given some tea money to get the police report.

Yes it must be understood. You were there 10 months. I was there 35 years.

Never heard of anyone going to jail for corruption? You must not have been listening at times. Corruption has taken down the entire top of the govt for example. There are many many cases of people going to jail or prison for corruption.

Is there corruption there? At every level of society. However telling someone to walk into a police station with a handful of money is simply reckless. This isnt the movies and there are certian protocols to be understood if you want to stay out of the jails. Especially if you are dealing with the police. Its not the same as what happens in a traffic stop for example.

The OP can get what she wants if she does it the right way. She is Thai and should know as well as I do how to use one method or another to get the report. She could for example try a variation of what you suggest. That would be to use the more Thai style of avoiding direct involvement when asking about having the report done. Send someone else to do the job of finding out what the "fee" would be. May sound odd to others but it is a way of life there.
