Hi. I'm preparing my N-400 application. Everything is pretty much fine. I just have a question a became a permanent resident on last of 8/2009. My wife and I didn't work that year and we were not required by law to file a tax return for that year ( you must file if your income is at least $18700 for that year). However, I have 2010 and 2011 returns. I have other documents like our sons birth certificate, apartment lease and joint bank account. Do you think if I just send these would be fine. Thanks

The documents that you have are fine. you can also send copies of any of the following :

Joint credit cards if any

Joint car titles if any

Joint utiliy bills (ex. electricity, internet, cell phones, etc)

Also, even though you did not file 2010 Taxes, I guess (I am not sure), you can go to IRS office to get a letter stating you were not required to file taxes, I believe I saw people do that.
