Hi. I have a questions I was hoping someone could help me with.

I'm a USC, my wife is not. We're currently both in the US and preparing to file both the i-130 package and AOS package concurrently.

So should these be packaged separately (but sent together)? Or can I put all the forms and required additional material for both in one package?

For example:

both packages require g-325 forms. so should we include two sets of these forms - one for the i-130 package and one for the AOS package?

can we create one cover page and table of contents for all documents and forms? or should there be a cover page and TOC for each package separately?

the i-130 package requires one passport photo of myself and one of my spouse.

the i-485 (AOS) package requires 2 passport photos of my spouse.

so how many photos should we include? one of me and 3 of my spouse?

and so on...

Even though you will submit the forms together, think of the two applications (I-130 and I-485) as separate, individual and independent from eachother. Both have to be able to "stand on their own", so to speak, so yes - you have to attach separate copies of those same documents for each application, exactly as detailed in the respective instructions for each form.

A fairly common approach to the mailing seems to be to somehow separate the two (I used manila folders), and then put them in one big envelope. The main thing is to mail them together - not in two separate envelopes. I had one general cover letter for the whole package, and then separate cover letters for I-130 pile adn I-485 pile. It won't make a difference either way - just do it in a way that seems the most logical to you and makes it easy for a person to navigate through the enormous pile of paper you are sending.

I agree with the previous post. That's how we did: I had separate cover letters for I-130 and I-485, as well as a general cover letter with table of contents for the entire package. Some VJers have posted their cover letters, so you could use them as a template, plus you'll have an understandign how many photographs/G-325A forms you'll need to include.

Hi. I have a questions I was hoping someone could help me with.

I'm a USC, my wife is not. We're currently both in the US and preparing to file both the i-130 package and AOS package concurrently.

So should these be packaged separately (but sent together)? Or can I put all the forms and required additional material for both in one package?

-----------> We used those HUGE paperclips from Walmart, they are about 3 inches long, to hold together each package. Whatever you use --some people have used AACO fasteners-- it should be something that can be easily disassembled and won't damage the documents.

For example:

both packages require g-325 forms. so should we include two sets of these forms - one for the i-130 package and one for the AOS package?

-----------> I think it is smart to separate the packages and thus make it easier on USCIS. This means printing a few g-325 forms for each package. Don't forget to make an exact copy of your records. I've already had to reference ours several times.

can we create one cover page and table of contents for all documents and forms? or should there be a cover page and TOC for each package separately?

-----------> We had a separate cover page for each package. Also used sticky notes on the right hand side to mark each set of documents. For example "USC Passp and Birth Cert" and another one for "USC Tax Returns" ...etc.

the i-130 package requires one passport photo of myself and one of my spouse.

-----------> remember to print extra photos for your set of the package

the i-485 (AOS) package requires 2 passport photos of my spouse.

so how many photos should we include? one of me and 3 of my spouse?

-----------> yes, and 3 more for your set and also all the photographs required for g-325a... always attach a photograph in a plastic bag to EACH g-325 form

and so on...

I know assembling the packages can get tedious but I think it is important for everything to be organized and easy to find! It's better to have one too many things than miss something ...

We included an ORIGINAL Certified Copy (NOT a photocopy of a Certified Copy) of our Marriage Certificate with the i-130 but for i-485 we submitted a photocopy.

Hope this helps!
