Ok, so now that I've read over the letter I just want to make sure that I'm bringing what I think they want.

A bit of history:

I'm filing as a 5 year resident, I'm prob the oldest as I'm at year 9 of having my green card.

I entered that states pre 9-11 from Canada without a passport. All I had to do was show my drivers licence and birth cert.

I didn't get my passport til a year after I got my green card while I was still in the states. I was 38 at the time I entered.

So with all that info, I think I take my greencard and passport and interview letter and thats it. I'm not filing as married to my US hubby. I didn't have to sign up for selective service. I've never in trouble with the law. So I'm thinking thats all I need. Am I right?

Remember to take your SSN card. My IO asked me for that during the interview and am glad I had it with me. I am assuming you already submitted the last 5 years of tax transcripts including for 2011. If not, make sure you have it with you.

Good Luck!

uh oh. The way I read the instructions for 5 years all I had to do was submit copy of greencard front and back and 2 photo's. I don't recall seeing anything about taxes for a 5 year just the 3 year. Wouldn't I have gotten an RFE for those if needed before getting to this stage?

If you are applying based on 5 years residency, you certainly need tax transcripts for the past 5 years including 2011. You will not receive a RFE, but the chances are high that the IO may ask to see it to ensure you don't owe back taxes.

I did not send the tax transcripts with my application, but instead carried them with me to the interview.

Ok thanks for the info. I'm really glad I asked this question. I'm calling the IRS today.

Won't hurt to have them, allthough you may or may not be asked - the 3 yr marriage rule is where they want to see you're filing together but at 5 yrs they may just want proof you've filed. I've never heard of needing your SSN - that is not a requirement to get citizenship (although you undoubtedly have one since you've worked and filed taxes)
