I need some advice on the I-134 Affidavit of Support for my fiancee visa! I am a student with a part time job making around $15,000 a year. Originally I was planning on having my mother as a co-sponsor but since she recently lost her job I was wondering if my grandmother, who is retired and on Social Security, could act as a co-sponsor. Along with Social Security, she is receiving benefits from the Air Force and is sitting on a nice savings account. Would that suffice? Her income is more than 125% of the poverty line but I was worried about her being retired and on social security... Advice anyone?

Thank you for your help!!!

Does she have any dependents? If it is just her, then she would only need the $18,912 for a household of 2 (herself + your fiancee). If she makes more than enough with her SS and AF pension, then she qualifies. She just needs to show the documents that prove she receives what she states she does on the I-134. She should get something from SS at the end of the year(SSA-1099) for her taxes that tells how much she gets a year, and she probably gets a 1099-R for the pension perhaps? She can show those plus a few recent bank statements that show how much is deposited from each source a month.
