Visit the USA while applying for K1 or CR-1?

Hello,

My name is Fleur and I just joined this Forum. I am from the Netherlands and wil soon marry an American (we are not sure yet whether we want to marry in the US or in the Netherlands). Being from the Netherlands I normally travel through ESTA. But I have a question: If I am applying for a K1 or CR-1, can I then still enter the US during the period the application is pending?

Yes, you can visit. Bring proof of ties to your home country, though, in case it's believed that you're attempting to immigrate early. Ties include things like a letter from an employer, letter from school, rental/lease agreement, return ticket, etc. As always, it's up to the border patrol officer whether or not you're allowed into the US - but keep in mind, if you're denied, it has no impact on your visa application.

Correct! They will likely ask about it, and you just answer honestly. It happens.

Yes you can, but be prepared to show that you have ties to the Netherlands and/or that you're going to go back. My fiancee almost got denied entry to the U.S. because she wasn't employed when she visited.
