It has been about 2 and half months since i received my letter from the NVC stating they had received my approval from the USCIS and we have still yet to hear anything from the embassy in BKK. Both my fiancee and i have emailed them with no response and she has called them where they said they would only respond in email. Does anyone know what i can do now to get some information on where our packet 3 may be. The 4 month time limit is coming up soon. any help will be great.

Welcome to the forum.

Please take the time and fill in your timeline. It helps people understand your type of visa, where you are in the process, etc....

Acquaint yourself with the wealth of great information available on this site. You will like be interested in the site's great K-1 flowchart, found in the "Guides" tab of this site. In the flowchart there are great ideas and actions that you can take to find out the present location of your petition. It sounds like it that after this period of time your petition may either be still at the NVC, or in transit to the interviewing embassy. You are now in the realm of the Department of State (DoS). Do you have your case file number? You need to contact NVC and get your case file number, then you can contact the DoS and follow-up on your petition's location.

I would suggest that you also check out the site's information guide on your interviewing consulate/embassy, look under "Embassy Info" tab. There are often specific instructions that pertain only to your interviewing consulate/embassy that can be found at the information guide.

Good luck on your visa journey.

The petition must be approved by NVC before it will be sent to BKK. BKK knows nothing about your case at this time so can not respond.

You can download P 3 and prepare the docs at any time. Do not send it in util you are certian the case is in BKK. She could do the medical & get her police report started now if she wants.

Four month limit?

All cases are sent to the consulate section in BKK. They are forwarded to the visa section across the street at the embassy. The visa section doesnt know the case is in BKK until this happens. Because of this its possible to contact the duty officer there to ask them to locate your case. Give them the USCIS case number to use. Make sure your inquiry is very clear. They will not answer questions about the visa process. The consulate section only provides help to American citizens.

Additionaly its possible for your fiance to buy a pin number at any Thai post office which will allow her to call into the visa section directly X amount of times. She must understand she can NOT ask direct questions about her case. She must frame the questions in a general manner.

Ning said very good advice.

While you are waiting, I would suggest preparing Packet 3.

Currently.... they have issued Ice the incorrect GC and we have tried 4 times to fix it. First time they had us send it to the incorrect address. Second time they said we used an expired form, which was the form they gave us. Third time was "oh sorry we lost the last page, can you send it again?." Fourth time is the gov is shut down. Will this ever be corrected in time for Ice to get the permanent GC? Stay tuned to find out. T_T
