Dear VJ forum users,

I would like to request your feedback and expertise :)

My wife and I (we met 4 years ago and married last October) filed for the green card petition (I-130). We obtained NOA1 on April 27th (no hard copy). My lovely wife is a USC. I am French. We got married in Paris. She was living there with me since September but did not work. Given she owns a house in the US, our lawyer suggested to use that address for her. She has now found a great job in the US and will take it (I cannot be selfish and have her be at home when an amazing opportunity appears).

Do you have any recommendations for the good continuation of the process? Do you think we could obtain the I-130 approval (NOA2 right?) sooner than 5 months or so? I see some US/French couples obtain it in a few weeks despite the fact DCF is no longer available in Paris (too bad!).

It is very painful to be away from your loved one and not having a clear deadline does not help. I know we are not the only one in that situation and I truly sympathize with all of you in this situation.

I am grateful for your time and advice.

Warm regards,

B

USCIS is taking about 5 months to issue the NOA 2, then you have the NVC, say worse senerio 2 months there, then an interview date is issued, say another 2 months. Sorry, but its how it rolls in this journey.

Best wishes on your journey.

Oh as for the address, she needs to use her U.S. address IF she does return here to USA for employment.......

It should be fine if she updates her mailing address to USA home address. One of the december filer updated her mailing address 2 weeks before NOA2 and did not impact her I-130 application process.

I filled my wife's I-130 in 12/2011 and got NOA2 in about 5 months. Typically add another 3 to 4 months from NOA1 to Interview and it also depends on how quickly you get an appointment available at USA consulate office in France. Good luck!

As for updating her address, I did that, got an email with 24 hours of acceptance, and 5 days later , hard copy in mail stating my address was updated by USCIS, it was truly fast..........

Oh and France is pretty quick of issuing interview dates after complettion of NVC, this I know first hand.........

Thank you very much for your wishes and replies! I will keep you posted!

Hopefully, the NOA2 will get there in about 3 months (one month already done... yeahhhhh!). Gotta stay positive and optimistic! It feels definitely good to have individuals like you saying kind words. The journey feels less "lonely".

All the best!
