Finger prints with police certificate?

Does anybody know if finger prints need to be taken along with the police certificate? I read it somewhere but i cant seem to find it again. If they are needed, when do they have to be done?

No. To order the ACPO you do not need fingerprints. We have ordered two in the past 2 yrs, so I know for sure it is not a requirement.

I just realized you are DCF. If I can recall, e-scanned fingerprints are taken at the embassy on interview day. I have not heard of london wanting fingerprints ahead of interview for DCF. You may have read that to order foreign police certs fingerprints are required (countries outside the UK).

On the London embassy webpage about police certificates, it mentions some from other countries require fingerprints like Australia for example. A few London interviewers (who spent time in Australia) have been caught out not by not reading everything on the website and not ordering the proper police certificate. Maybe you read one of those posts. If you only need UK, then no fingerprints.

Yes be glad you only need the UK one.

If you needed fingerprints done, you would be paying between £60 and £100 for them. And your local cop-shop don't do them no more.

In the South East you either go to Oxford (Kidlington) or New Scotland Yard in London.

Either way in this day and age: it's inconvenient, expensive and a bloody cheek.

Wow thats madness! Im far enough away from London for it to be a huge expense to get there at the best of times, nevermind the complete inconvenience. The train is about £70 for a return for just one person. Also, i dont think my daughter would be very pleased about ANY difference in her routine Im lucky if i can get her to be quiet long enough for a trip to morrisons these days

I guess it must depend on the police station. I had a full set taken for my FBI check to complete the CRB check for my job, at my tiny local station just last month, it still cost me a small fortune though! I would ring around stations in your area if you/anyone need fingerprints.

Thanks mazra. Wow for a CRB? I had one done last year and all i had to do was fill out the forms and send a photocopy of my passport.

Just for information sharing sake: The CRB fingerprints and Visa fingerprints are 2 different things, so therefore some local police stations might still do CRB fingerprints but your are SOL when you need fingerprints for your Visa. For Visa fingerprints in the South East you only have the 2 options I mentioned earlier.

My situation is slightly different from the "regular" UK visa applicant, as I lived in South Africa for 27 years and therefore I need a SA police report as well, which, in comparison to everything else that I need to complete, is an absolute pain in the you know what to acquire...Fun-fun-fun!!!!

Ive only been with my GP for about 5 months so they've not known me long enough. I do know somebody who is a dentist though so im hoping to get her to do it when i can get hold of her.

Well, i go my dads girlfriend to do it They came over today and i asked if she could ask her daughter for me (the dentist!) and she was reading through the list of occupations and turns out she could do it herself So its in an envelope ready to go recorded delivery monday morning. Thats one less thing to do.
