The joint sponsor received 41 000 in 2011 and thats what it says on the tax return transcript on 1. Income from wages, salaries, tips, etc.

but in adjusted gross income it says 10 000

Whats her annual income for the form I-864 then? :/

line 22 on 1040 is equal to the line called "TOTAL INCOME" on the tax return transcript.

But which part of i-864 are you asking about?

If this is for the current annual income it would be whatever her annualized income is ($$/hour times xhours/week times 52 weeks/year)

Would suggest sending a few paystubs as proof of that income.

If this is for the federal income tax return information, then use the adjusted gross income amount as requested by the i-864.

On form I-864 on line 24 - annual income, i should put the gross income she makes a year, right? thats 43 000

But on the tax transcript it says that her total gross income is 10 000 because it says on business loss - 33000 ( we dont know why) so the total was 10 000.

So on line 25 federal income tax return information for the last year - 2011 i should write 10.000 right? but thats not enough for a household of 5. She makes enough but i cant put enough on that part of the form. What can we do?

Her current annual income for #24 should be her annualized income for this year.

If there is a significant difference to is on #25 adjusted gross income from 2011 taxes, I would also include proof that this year's income will be enough for a household of 5.

With someone who gets regular paychecks, it is easy to include copies of a few paystubs.

Unfortunately I'm not sure how this would be done for someone who is self employed, which I am assuming is her case considering the business loss?

She might need to include something like contracts or paid invoices from clients to show the cash flow into her business.

Does she have to file 1040ES (declaration of estimated taxes) for 2012? Maybe include that and proof of payments submitted for that?

Oh ok, then easy peasy! put that amount and send some paystubs.

The business loss and why the adjusted income was only 10K last year will be explained by the 2011 transcript.

The most important is that her current income meets the requirement.

I would also include a few paystubs from last few years to show that they're all from the same company and she has held this steady job for a while.

It wouldn't hurt to attach and explanation that she has now given up that business endeavor.

I think this would make for a better case :)

"You may include evidence supporting your claim about your expected income for the current year if you believe that submitting this evidence will help you establish ability tomaintain sufficient income. You are not required to submit this evidence, however, unless specifically instructed to doso by a Government official. For example, you may includea recent letter from your employer, showing your employer's address and telephone number, and indicating your annualsalary. You may also provide pay stub(s) showing your income for the previous six months."

Good luck!

So I have paystubs showing how much money the joint sponsor has made since the beginning of the year and a letter from the employer stating how much she makes a hour. Is this enough to prove how much she makes a year?

Also how can I prove that she left the business she had? it was a delivery business with a truck.

Thank you
