Timeline
It depends on the consulate. I e-mailed the consulate in Rio and they spelled out everything very clearly that I need with the Aff. of Supp.

That was an excellent idea. I called the Consulate and they told me exactly what I needed. They were very friendly and I was not placed on hold, I was directed right to the person with the answers. FYI I only needed IRS transcript or certified copy of most recent tax return with W-2 and letter from employer.

No bank information is needed. And yes it looks like every consulate has their own requirements so I would advise anyone that is not sure to email or call the consulate for answers.
