B1/B2 multiple entry visa to US

My mother in-law received a multiple entry tourist visa to enter the USA and it is good for 10 years. My questions are how long can she stay for a visit and can she come on a one way airfare and purchase a return air fare after she enters the US.

12/27/13 mailed application

You realize that having B2 visa in the passport doesn't guarantee admission to the US at POE?

B2s are most often admitted for 6 months, but admission itself and length of allowed stay are at the sole discretion of the CBP Officer.

Your MIL declared purpose of the trip and anticipated length of stay when she applied for visa in Manila and she will be asked at POE how long she intends to stay in the US.

If the CBP suspects that the visa will be used for different purpose that it was issued, they may deny admission altogether.

Not having return ticket may be perceived as not intending to return. Not a good idea, IMO.
