I received an email today from the Texas lockbox people that gave me a receipt number and told me my petition was being sent to Vermont for processing. It also said I would be receiving for I-797. What is this form and anyone have any idea if it's a good/bad thing to receive?

thanks :)

Welcome to the forum.

Congratulations, they have your petition! If your receipt number starts out with EAC........ , you are in good shape. Your hardcopy I-797c, NOA1 should arrive soon. Now sit back and relax for the next 4-6 months.

Good luck on your visa journey.

Hiya to another UK filer :) It means they received it, put it in the order they want, cashed your check, and it's going to the service center for processing. The form you'll be getting is your NOA1 (VJ term) and the number you get can be put into the USCIS page to check on your processing. Just don't get too hung up on their webpage. It's not updated regularly. When you get the mailed hard copy of your NOA1, put the date on it into your timeline on here and it will give you an approximate wait time until your next notice. Then sit back, relax, look over the boards for the K1 visa and UK. You've got about a 5-7 month wait now. The UK boards have a lot of good info for what to do while waiting and what you'll need in the next few steps. The petitioner and beneficiary will need more forms and accompanying paperwork for the next steps so you need to get going on that soon. There's also Threads on the K1 boards for all the different months so you'll have support from people in the same time frame. The wait is maddeningly slow at times, and at other times it seems like everything is flying by and we won't have enough time to get everything done for moving and wedding planning. Welcome to the journey!

In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.

That's NOA1. It's a receipt notice - it's just VJ slang(NOA1), USCIS uses the name of the form.

Wishing you a smooth journey : )

It is a Notice of Action. As another noted, it will give you confirmation that the processing center in Vermont actually has your paperwork, and it will give you an EAC number which you will need to track your case. You can view the average waiting times via USCIS website link to your particular processing center and visa type. However, the computerized tracking of your EAC number most likely will not be fruitful, as the US is so slow that they do not input your case into the computer until after the wait is over and your case is under review. Best wishes!
