Hi, does anyone know if question 15 on the I-130 (Name and address of present employer and Date this employment began) refers to the petitioner's employer or the alien relative's employer? Looks like the relative's employer, but it's not clear. Also, has anyone else had a problem downloading this file? I'm just using the sample form on this site and changing the info.

Thanks for the info, Sheesh. And no, I cannot download it from USCIS. I really am smart enough to think of trying that, Thomas. However, I have received corrupted file messages when trying to download it from two different computers, and I was wondering if anyone else has experienced the same problem.

Just a bit more clarification please regarding Field # 15....I understand that this is referencing my relative's employer (who is still in Japan working), is this question asking for his current employer as he is employed in Japan or is it asking for a current employer (if any) in the US (following the sequence of the previous questions regarding current residence information for him already being in the US)?

Since most of the questions regarding the beneficiary say "your relative" I'm really unsure if this question is genuinely asking about the relative's employment or if it means the petitioners. If it is, they mean current employer, wherever that is. However I think my spouse answered with his current employer. I tend to defer to him on government forms since he was in the Air Force for 8 years and now works for the FAA. :)

The question has been answered both ways and both have received an approved NOA2.

It's under the section "C. Information about your relative". That's how you know it's about the beneficiary.

Thanks I know how to read. :) I've been doing it since I was 3.good.gif

I was trying to explain that it's the only question in there that doesn't say "your relative" but I've always assumed it was "your relative" and when I filled out the form for my spouse (the USC) I wrote down my employment. I'm not sure what HE wrote down since he didn't end up using the form I sent him, but downloaded his own and he didn't keep a copy.

But I've also seen it approved when it has stated the petitioner's employment not the beneficiary's. Which is what makes me unsure they really mean the relative in that section or just wanted to fill up the form vs leaving white space. Over thinking it probably causes the unsurety.

So it is an unclear part of the form, has been approved both ways, but in general is taken to mean the relative aka beneficiary. If answered for the beneficiary it means current employment, not any future US employer.
