We are now on the DS-230, and question 10 is about our address 'if known', and 11 is for where we should mail the green card.

We can just send the green card to my parents in the mainland, but we are planning to move to Hawaii. The problem is that we can't find an apartment in Hawaii as it's the summer and every landlord I call says 'I won't know until within 30 days of August' (when I plan to move). Basically, when do I need to have my own address? It seems like on DS-230 I don't need one...how about for the interview? They'll at least need it so they know which state we'll be moving to, right?

Thank you

One more question - on the 'affidavit of support' - I never got such a paper. Should I print this out and attach it to my fiancee's DS-230 form?

it's time for the uscitizen petitioner to rent a mailbox with usps.

re: affadavit of support (form I-134) - that's shown on interview day, usually.

Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Thanks for the reply. What do you mean about renting a mailbox? My mom (I'm the US citizen) lives in the US, so we can have the green card sent there.

Do you mean I need to get a mailbox for question 10? I guess I'm confused as to how a mailbox will help.

Thank you

sorry, you seemed uncertain of your address and/or domicile, a usps postal box rented from a usps postal center can clear that up, you know the mail arrives there.

sounds like you have another arrangement, though - so use the address you know will not change over the next 12 months.

K-1 people are not mailed the green card after entry anyways. Your going to put your new address / address again on the forms when you file for adjustment of status after marriage. That is what gets you the green card. You have more than enough time to find a place before your in the US and married and filing AOS.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

Thanks for your response. Did you mean in your first sentence that K-1 people aren't mailed the green card until they have entered the US?

Also, for some reason I was under the impression that I would need to have my own address for the interview (I'm planning to live in HI - my parents live in the midwest but will receive and send mail/a greencard to me). I think part of the reason why I thought this was that (I had thought) my foreign fiancee must arrive by plane to the state in which we plan to reside.

Is this correct? If so, I thought that I needed an address so they would know which state she'll be coming to. I could be and hopefully am wrong on this point, as it would be much simpler to just arrive in the US once we get the temporary permission (without a set residence) and be able to look for and find an apartment.

Thanks for the help so far :)

no, no greencard after entry. Nothing automatic like a CR-1 / IR-1 visa holder.

only way to get a greencard is to file the AOS package.

So, lets say she arrives, you live in the mainland, marry in the mainland,

then move to hawaii and file the AOS package from there.

Eventually, the green card will show up , to the address used in the I-485 form.
