OMG! Delta is very expensive. I can't get anything under $2000.00.:(

sometimes you get better rates by calling the delta international booking line....I can honestly say I have never paid over 1,100.00 on Delta to Lagos....but again it depends on ur origination and connections too....

I have never seen a direct flight from Tampa to Lagos. all of the flights i take are layovers in Atlanta or Texas. I am traveling this June so i no I will be paying about 1800.00 total or more.

When I say direct I mean your not stopping in other countries I know continental takes you through arab countries or like Air Maroc etc...But with Delta you will have a connection but once you get on your connection in Atlanta or Texas then you go direct to Lagos....

I fell you 100%. What helps me is that, hhile you're going through this process, we try to communicate much as possible via Skype and Phone. Instead of being too weak at heart, try using this time to focus on making sure you have everything prepared the best of your ability so that "with the grace of God", You both will be united soon. I'm noticing on many cases, it's been taking 5 to 7 months for K-1s. :)

To use Skype in Nigeria, I'm assuming that you have to have internet access at home?

Additional, is there any cheaper rate than RebTel for phones?

One of my road Dogs flew Emirates last year, he had an 11 hour layover in Dubai I think. No, thanks.

If only Nigeria had visionary leaders and they brought back Nigerian Airways. 5 non stops from LAX weekly with generous cargo shipping area will be filled.

Emirates usually put you in a nice hotel for free, so it pays if you have extra days for a brief holiday in Dubai. If not forget Emirates as the layovers are always long

Nope, no hotel, not even a cheapie one as they said it was not their policy (perhaps it changed). So they all just hung out at the terminal.

Each airline has certain departure points where they then go direct to another country. Delta uses Atlanta to go to Lagos , United uses Houston. Most others you fly through another country first. Most airlines will only put you in a hotel if something breaks and delays your flight. Weather isn't included in that. So most of us are stuck with a hop then a flight ( if you call the UK or Dubai a hop ) Sometimes you have tight layovers and once in a while you get layovers for more or less a day. Be careful with layover vacations and Nigerians , most need visas to leave the airport and some airports even to land. Until they are USC's they travel by Nigerian passport restrictions which are very tight.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Good point to note.

I was stuck in Lagos for two days (I don't like Lagos) because I missed my flight (one would think 6 hours was prudent time enough to cover 100 miles (but not in Nigeria sometimes). Anyways the airline (NWA) refused to board me on the next flight since it had a long layover and I only had my Nigerian passport (with GC) then with no visa to Amsterdam (I think). I of course changed my stance and immediately applied for my AOS when I arrived stateside so as to avoid future issues.

Personally I was elated when NWA, Delta, United/Continental joined the route. Not having to route via Europe is a blessing to me.

Many vacations have been spoiled by a USC planning a trip with new spouse thinking a green card acts like a US passport. It doesn't and it is really bad to find out too late that your spouse needs a visa and can't get it until after the flight.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
