Green Card - Maximum Stay Outside USA

Last I knew that within 6 month you need to visit America and prove your ties with America to maintain Green Card. However I have recently heard from my friends that now USCIS as reduced that restriction from 6 months to 2 months. So if you are going out of USA for more than 2 months then you need to take pre-permission from USCIS. Else you re-entry will be denied.

Can someone please confirm it?

I don't know where your friend heard/read this, but I have not heard anything about USCIS decreasing the amount of time an LPR can be abroad. The general rule of thumb is that anything less than 6 months is not an issue at all, between 6-12 months you should be prepared to show proof upon re-entry of how you maintained ties to the US and that you did not abandon your residency, and an absence of 12 months or more requires a re-entry permit in order for the LPR to not abandon their residence status. Absence of 12 months or more will also re-set the citizenship clock, whereas absences of less than 12 months stop the clock, but won't re-set it to zero.
