Hey.

I'm new to VJ (I posted my complex situation in the introduction board), but basically I am hoping to be in the US with my husband by the end of this year.

Just wondering if there is anyone on here that is at the beginning of their visa journey and still in the UK? I am based in London and will be filing the I-130 at the end of the month (pay day). I have so many questions and don't want to bombard the boards with them  . So looking for anyone who's in a similar position. :help:

Nice to meet you all

Hi Porsha---

The best place to find a buddies is in this forum. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/134-ir-1-cr-1-spouse-visa-case-filing-and-progress-reports/

People band together by the month of filing and talk up a storm while waiting. It gives you a gang to hang with. A lot never even realize there are regional forums too so you might not find anybody whose made it here yet. But I find when you hang with new people, it's often the blind leading the blind. So read all the posts in the IR1/CR1 forum here http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/110-ir-1-cr-1-spouse-visa-process-procedures/

You'll see all the same questions asked over and over. You'll learn from the mistakes and RFEs (requests for evidence) people get.

Have you found the guide pages and the sample forms filled out?

Then there's a NVC forum to add to your reading once your husband files the I-130 so you will know what's going to happen after the petition is approved. Learn that ahead of time and get your documents gathered so you're ready as soon as NVC is ready for them.

And then also hang out here in the UK forum and read what the IR1/CR1s are doing about their shots, medical, and taking to the interview. Once you clear NVC, it gets London specific and what your I-130 buddies are doing at other consulates may not apply to you at all.

I hope it all goes smoothly for you. I read your other post and I know all about K1s and London, but never learned the NVC process and details of what to do about kids. Does your oldest son have a US passport yet? That process can be started now, separate from your I-130 petition.

Welcome to the UK forum!

Welcome and good luck on your journey. I'm not 'travelling' with you but I have done the journey fairly recently so feel free to ask questions. I was a teacher in the UK too but haven't yet got my head around all the acronyms I need to understand before I can think about transferring my qualification to the Georgia system!
