Hello,

I don't know if this is a problem and I really hope not. My wife got her police document and what you would call birth certificate in China. She recently had them translated and received the white books for them both. We did this for our marriage license when we got married already. Anyways, she tells me that she no long has the original documents the translator used to make the white books. It would seem they kept them. My wife talked to other people in the CR-1 process from China and they say it's okay, but I want to make sure if we need the originals along with the certified translations. Thank you for any help.

We have the same concern,

but

that white book is a 2 stage document, aye?

The first part is a certified copy of the original.

The second part is a notarial translation of the original into English.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
