Just wanted to post about my medical experience this morning. As I live in TO, I headed down to Dr. Seidans office and got there around 6:50 am. There was one guy outside waiting..chatted with him for a little bit and asked if he was a VJ'er. He said no so I told him to check out the site as it was very helpful and super informative. A girl came down to let us into the building at 7 am. We were the only 2 there. We were asked for our passports, appointment letters and a letter indicating our MTL case number (I used the letter from Packet 4 that has the case number on the back page) Make sure that you have this.

I went and sat in the waiting room for about 10 minutes and then dealt with Erlene (she is the lady that books the appointments and calls you back if you leave a message). I gave her my passport, photos and immunization records. She had me sign some paperwork and attached my photos to this paperwork. I was given an envelope (do not open this envelope_ with paperwork in it that had to be taken to an xray clinic outside of the building and around the corner. I then paid my $300.00 cash.

You then are escorted into an exam room and given a gown and asked to remove clothing but keep your bra on. (They do this to verify your gender...I asked the nurse and she said yes). The nurse then takes your weight, height and blood pressure and records it. You wait for the doctor to come in. The doctor comes in, ask about your medical history, if your on any meds, any pre-existing health issues and listens to your chest...just like going to the family doctor for a check-up or physical. The doctor was very nice. After he was finished (exam took all of 5 minutes) he told me that I would be doing blood test and was instructed to go back into the waiting are and wait to be called. He gives you some form to take the front when you are done your blood test You are instructed to then go back out into the waiting room. At this time it was about 7:40 and the waiting room was filling up. Got bloodwork done, gave my sheet back to the receptionist at the front, was told I could pick up my medical anytime after 12 on Friday.

Went to the xray clinic, gave them my passport and envelope. Then was called to go and get the xray done. You put the gown on and the xray tech did his thing. That was it. Done.

I did ask Erlene about getting extra copies of paperwork and she informed me that they only give you the paperwork you need for your interview and not to open the envelope that the medical comes in. The only extra copies of anything that you get is the immunization stuff. She also told me that I would probably have to have another medical done for the AOS which is weird because I thought that you could use your medical for your AOS if it was within the year that you had your medical. Hoping someone can clarify if this is true and what they will need in terms of this at the biometric appt. for AOS.

Side note about the bloodwork...it is tested for syphillis. I asked the blood tech. She said they used to test for HIV but don't anymore.

I would say get there early in the morning. I was done by 8:40 am.

I'm sure we saw each other in the waiting room :)

My experience was exactly the same (other than the times - I showed up late because I foolishly trusted the TTC to function), except I didn't have to keep my bra on. Also, my roommate had hidden chocolate around the house for Easter and apparently thought my dresser was a good spot, because I had melted chocolate all over my shirt and neck!! Embarrassing, but not an issue, haha.

I'm worried about my chest xrays, but overall, this was the least painful part of the process thus far.

Who was there today?

I was the second person and was done with everything by 8:45 heading to the subway.

Unfortunately, I will have to provide a record from my Chickenpox vaccination, i said to the doctor that I had it before, but he said he wanted to see it written on my records :( .. I wont be able to get my results on Thursday.. I went to my family doctor right away and she asked for a blood work to check if I am immune or not and we will go from that. Anyways, I have to wait to the chickenpox test result and then contact doctor Seidans.. Hopefully, I will have my complete exam before my interview in 2 weeks and half.

Thanks for your help and sharing your experience everyone. It has been very helpful

As far as I know, I was first there. We went up as soon as the outer doors opened at 7:30. Exam and x-rays were done and we were getting back in the car at 9 am.

Bummer about your chickenpox vaccine, Eli. I wonder what the problem was? I didn't have proof either, but the doctor just asked if I had had it as a child, I said yes, and that was that.

I was insanely nervous about the medical, but everyone there was really nice. Not a terrible experience at all.

We arrived about 7:05 and waited at the front doors of the building for a few minutes. Then the security guard came and suggested that we go down the street a few steps to the mall and wait indoors, at the mall entrance to the office building. It was much warmer there (and felt a bit safer to not be on the street, being just me with 2 small kids and a wad of cash in my purse...). The mall entrance opened at 7:30, the same as the main doors to the street.

Also, for those driving, there is a small lot on Selby St (take Bloor, go right Sherbourne, then the next street to the right). It cost $3.50/half hour or $14 max. It's just behind Dr. Seiden's office but I didn't find a way through -- we just walked around the block. But the back door of the x-ray place takes you right out to that parking lot. Easy, easy parking, and not terribly expensive. I was expecting to park on the street, as I thought I read here that there was street parking "right there", but if there was, I didn't see it.

So... my results are being couriered. How will I know if there is a problem and I didn't pass? Will the package just not show up on Friday? Or will they call me, or should I call them?

Hey! I didn't get to keep my bra on...

Me either. I distinctly remember a breast exam from a very young and very attractive female doctor. I'm usually not self-conscious, but I was then!

CADreamer, if there was a problem, they would have told you at the doctors office. If they didn't say anything, you're good to go.
