Return to US with valid Re-entry permit but expired Green Card

Will my daughter be able to re-enter the USA?

My daughter is at medical school in Europe. She has an I-131 Re-entry Permit valid through 2013, but her I-551 (green card) expires June 2nd. her I-90 application for green card renewal has been received by US CIS but she has not got a biometric appointment yet.

Due to exams and course scheduling it will be very hard for my daughter to return to the USA until the end of July. Will she be able to re-enter the USA with valid re-entry permit but expired I-131 ? Will the airline allow her to fly?

(If she can defer returning until after exams, we will ask for the biometric appointment to be rescheduled when we are notified of the date.)

Thanks for any advice!

Yes should be able to travel with the valid re-entry permit.

Just because green-card expires does not mean that residency status has been terminated. Also you do have an I-90 filed and in process.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.
