Hope someone can help me with that.

So now my wife is here and we got married on Friday. We both want my wife to take my name. I was wondering how do I go about changing her name in the Ukrainian Passport. So when we travel back we will not have any issues having ticket in married name, but the passport in maiden name. I tried to lookup Ukrainian Embassy but out of lack finding the information there.

Hope someone can help.

Thanks

You will not have any problems if you simply cary a copy of her marriage certificate. That along with the K-1 visa in her passport will do the trick

Otherwise change it the next time she is in Ukraine. The consulate here can do it but only if you are registered as a US resident with Ukraine. You can do that with the consulate here also. Not worth the trouble in my opinion. Google "Ukrainian consulate in USA" for the locations.

That will be a problem as the ticket MUST match the official government issued ID used for international travel--i.e. her PASSPORT. So if the name in her passport is her maiden name then the ticket MUST be in her maiden name for her to travel. After receiving the GC in her married name she will still be traveling on her Ukrainian passport. The only thing the GC does is allow her back into the USA without having to have a visa. Typically VJers recommend carrying a copy of the marriage certificate to show the connection between the maiden name in the passport and the married name on the GC. Most CBP people are smart enough to make the connection.

Garry,

So we are planning a trip in the summer before the GC will arrive and will be using AP for re-entry. In what name should I book her ticket the maiden or the married?

Always book the ticket in the name in the passport. The green card has no purpose except for re-entering the US (and for entering Canada, Mexico and Carribean Islands) When leaving the US show the passport, when entering Ukraine show the passport. When returning to the US show the passport and Green Card (or AP) and copy of marriage certificate. No problems.
