Hi everyone.... can someone tell me what it means if you call the DOS and it doesn't give you the option to talk to an operator? I have called before... but I got a letter from the Embassy in Amman saying they needed proof of relationship, "new" sponsor, old passports? All this after being given a letter of approval... I don't even know what to do... or how to handle this... I was just told by the DOS last week that everything was ok... did my file get lost from writing too much to ask about my case?

Your file isn't lost. If it was lost they wouldn't ask you for more proof of relationship etc. Very much sounds like you are in AP now and you need to send them what they requested from you to have your case start being worked on again. They wont do any work on the case until they get the new evidence from you.

But I can't give them any new evidence...I have not been able to go back over there...I have been working a new job and get us a new apartment...I can't just leave whenever they want more pictures...I can give them phone records...a copy of everything with my new married name on it... they are telling me to get a 'New" co-sponsor... I just talked to him... he said he never changed anything and this man makes 5 times what they ask for... they can't tell you who can sponsor you...and my sponsor passed with the NVC... why would they tell me that I need a new one??

What is so strange about all this...is #1...he has an approval letter from the counselor... and last week I spoke with the embassy and the DOS who both told me AND my husband that everything is ok...all the papers are in order... this was 5 days ago...... the day of his interview.... she had all of this right in front of her... everything.

What if I don't have anyone else to be a sponsor? What if I can't come over there right now to take more pictures? This is wrong that they have done this......

They can tell you to do anything and you have to comply with them or no visa. If the sponsor does not meet what they see fit it is at their discretion to accept it or not. Proof of relationship isn't just pictures, its phone logs chat logs skype screen shots of you chatting online, emails, snail mail letters / cards, e-cards, documents showing name changes, documents showing beneficiary has been added to a shared bank account etc etc.

Its really not strange that he was given an approval and they turned around asking for more evidence, it happens quite a lot especially over the last few weeks there are quite a few people saying they have been approved and then found out a week later they are in AP with RFE requests. It is not wrong to ask for more evidence, its about them making sure things check out, they likely found something in the previous evidence after the interview and want more proof before making the final say on the application. Also the interviewers cant fully approve an application - they recommend it for approval and then it is forwarded to a head officer to go over the files before any visa is issued.

Thank you for your comments...but really there is something not right here. They have to follow the law for one..right? and I've met the qualifications that the law ensues and beyond... I called the DOS and my husband called the embassy this morning... and neither of them even have a record of this mail I got in their system. The embassy did tell my husband that my case was forwarded to another department and I needed to write them and explain my situation about the evidence...and I have plenty of phone records...proof of name change...checks...his name is on my lease...that's all fine.. The 125% income bracket for a household of 2 is 18,000...if a sponsor makes close to a 100,000.00 a year...that's not enough to sponsor one person? Well...I am waiting to see when they respond to my mail...I will find out exactly what is happening... I didn't know that the approval went again to another person though... thanks for clearing my ignorance... I really was told something different. B-)

When the government asks for proof it is not an option to refuse or try to debate what RIGHTS you have.

You just need to give them what they want to get what you need.

You are causing problems for yourself.

The department they send packets to that do not have enough information is called the Fraud department.

I think you need to get off your high horse and just jump through the hoops that the rest of people have to do. Why try to fight a requirement that is needed to process your visa?

Sorry...didn't mean to aggravate you...the response I got from the embassy didn't give me the proper information I needed to send it...so my husband called and asked them to clarify what the email( it wasn't a packet) said and what they wanted so we could send the info properly. He read the email to her...and she said she didn't have a record of that email in their system. So I called the DOS and asked them what I needed to send...she said nothing...we don't have a record of that email and everything is ok. My husband wrote them to find out what he needed to send them and ask if the approval letter he got was authentic... we got a good response...but they don't need anything for his review... so the email I got was maybe a fraud? I'm willing to send them what they want... but I'm not ignorant... and that email was really off... they make mistakes too........ and nothing in my paperwork is fraudulent...or it wouldn't of passed the NVC. They told me this themselves. It's all ok. And I do have a right to receive requests in a professional manner...not just an email of frustrated, bungled words because they have lost something doing our...has nothing to do with being on a high horse. I have written many thank you's to them for all they are doing for us...(F)
