I am the step mother and petitioner for my two step daughters. We had the DNA completed months ago, everythig else was already approved and thought we had our final interview today. We received an e-mail that today March 6th would be the final interview with no mention that the medical exam had expired while we were waiting for the final interview to come. Why would they or why could they not have mentioned that in the e-mail they sent to us with the interview date. Now the girls have to go have another exam $350.00 more for something that was not our fault, another trip to the Embassy and then more wait time for the visa. Is it too much to be given a notice so that this could have all been taking care of before they went for the interview.. Would have saved all of us time and money...

So Disappointed!!

It's your responsibility to know the rules and when the documents will expire. It's not the US Embassy's role to tell you when your documents will expire. If you wanted someone to tell you this, then you should have hired a lawyer. This is how the US government view things when it comes to dealing with them.

A lawyer won't always inform about these things anyways. But it is true that being a couple of steps ahead(i.e. reading requirements and validity) may help you in the long run. Sorry about the extra cost. Hang around VJ for a while - sometime's you'll stumble upon valuable information while surfing around.
