CR1 is an immigrant visa, which allows person to get a green card/ssn upon arrival. It involves additional steps as this is an immigration process, unlike K-1 which is considered non-immigrant visa, and you have to file for AOS/Employment etc...

Usually most of the airports takes about 1.5-2 hours some people get lucky and go faster, only took me 30 minutes. It is all depends how busy the custom is and what kind of agent you will get to.

I plan to use only klm as they have direct flights to iah so no worries about connecting flights to miss with that said the ones that miss their connecting flights does the airline just place on next flight without extra fee? the funny thing is the flight path klm uses goes right over my house to/from iah I always think think one day soon sveta will be on that plane ;)

A K-1 is only half the process, you complete the other half when they arrive. The CR-1 takes care of the immigration process before they arrive. The time from petition to green card is about the same. Unless you delay filing the AOS

Airlines will typicallyput you on the next plane IF the reason you missed a flight was "their fault" (ie, the flight coming in was delayed and failed to connect. If it is "your fault", ie., you just missed the plane, no then there is usually a fee. Read the policies of whatever airline you use.

POe is relatively easy and is similar at all points of entry. The actual process takes much less than 2 hours, waiting in line will be most of that.
