Salaam Everyone,

I'm new to this forum. My wife's I-130 is at the NVC and thank God, is getting closer to moving to the embassy. I was wondering if anyone has been through the process with the embassy in Abu Dhabi and had any advice to share.

One question off the top of my head is, will she be able to go to the UAE from Iran, and do her medical, interview, etc on one trip and then come to the US if she is approved? Another would be how long would she be there? I'm planning on meeting her in UAE to be at the interview, God willing.

Thanks

Sorry if I misunderstood but do you mean can she do the medican and interview in one trip? I suppose so! I'm not sure how long it usually takes the embassy there to issue a visa but if she is approved and they don't do any name checks then she should get it maybe the next day and can leave for the US. Usually women have an easier time than men in terms of not being on AP/AR for long periods of time.

Good luck!

Thanks Sarah, I appreciate the information. I'm just getting nervous, and trying to make sure I understand everything I need to get in order before she goes for the interview.

Well she will most likely need her birth certificate and police certificate with translations as I'm sure you know. Otherwise just make sure she has lots of evidence to show at the interview of your relationship. Good luck and don't worry everyone gets nervous!

Hi,

I am from Iran too and i think our case is in the same process. Please let me know if NVC has assigned a case number for your wife. It must be like ABD2006######

if NVC assigned a number then it takes about 2-3 months to schedule an interview date (if your case is Cr-1 or IR-1). then they will send you a packet including interview date and medical test letter. your wife should go to Abu Dhabi for medical test and interview. hopefully her background check takes just a few weeks after interview. So i'm not sure if she can flight to US directly from Abu Dhabi after interview as Her visa validity will be just 14 days. The best way is some tour agencies which have designed trips to Abu Dhabi just for interview in US embassy. Then she should check Abu Dhabi wheb site to see if he case number is in their list. http://uae.usembassy.gov/immigrant_status.html . once she found her case number in this site it means that Administrative process is finished and her visa is ready. this time she can schedule her trip from Abu Dhabi to US. Please let me know if i can help you more.

I hope your wife comes with you soon.

Mersi Arash. Yes she has an NVC case# with ABD2006######. Alhamdullilah her case has been flying through the NVC. It has been at the NVC for 4 weeks, and this week they are sending me the DS-230 and I-864, inshallah. Is there any way to start her background check before her interview ? I will be taking unpaid leave from work to be with her at the interview, and I want to bring her back with me to the US, because I can't afford to fly back to get her again, and I know she will not want to fly alone from Iran to the US.

Thanks again. Let me know when you get an interview date. I'd like to keep in touch so I know what to do next.

Hi, Just wanted to add a quick note. I also came to US through marriage visa. My husband was with me in Abu Dhabi. Although it was not needed... If everything goes well and you don't miss any documents, you'll need just about a week in Abu Dhabi. Then you'll have the visa in your hand and then you can fly directly to Us... I mean, if you can find a ticket so quickly! :)

But we were missing a document, so we had to stay for another week until we received that too. Just keep a copy of all your documents and take the copies with you to the interview. Specially I-864. I would have a tax transcript, just to make sure that nothing goes wrong. Make sure you take a copy of that to Abu Dhabi too. I hear that's the most important item.

Good Luck.

Oops! Sorry! I forgot about the backround check. My case was back in 2002! So I guess I didn't have a backround check done. I've seen other people havin their visa in hand immidiately though. This ad. process is new. But I'm not sure exactly how it works! Parents of a friend of mine got their green card lasr December. The mother was given the visa immidiately and the father had to go back to Iran and wait for ad. process which was done in 5 weeks. So I'm not sure how exactly it works.

Thanks sooooo much for the help. Now I feel a little more comfortable. :D I'm debating on whether to get certified copies from the IRS or just bring my copies of the tax returns. I pray she doesn't get an AP :( God willing it will all work out and be the best for us, and most EASY :D

Thanks again for your input. It really helped me grasp the process a little more.

You're very welcome. I really think you won't regret it if you get tax transcripts from IRS. I've even requested the second copies to attach to the copy of I-864 and have my parents take it with them to interview. Every one I know who has been rejected on their interview, has had a problem with their tax papers. Even in our case, the document that we were missing was something (I don't remember what it was), but it was supposed to be the original, but we had a regular copy! So I'd say it's worth it. Hope it helps. Good Luck.
