Sorry everyone for all the questions, but I am stressing! Here are my questions:

1) I got my NOA2 on January 30th and I called NVC and they said they received it February 6th and sent it to Montreal February 8th. I called DOS and they said it is in Montreal but they haven't sent out the package yet. I am just wondering how long it usually takes for Packet 3 to be sent? I thought for sure I would at least be able to send my stuff by now. I have all my forms (other than DS-160) ready to go but I am correct that I can't send anything until DOS tells me it has been sent right?

2)When do I register with DHL? Do I wait to do that until packet 3 is sent or can I do that now?

3)My passport is set to expire February 2013. I had to give a lot of my passport info in packet 3. If I renew it between now and the interview is that going to be a big problem?

Thanks!

Aos:

10-01-12. Sent AOS, AP and EAD

10-09-12- Recieved NOA's for forms

10-24-12- Successfully walked in for biometrics (originally scheduled for 11-08-12)

11-26-12- Made info pass appointment for emergency advance parole. Denied, but agent called service center to request an expedite.

11-28-12- Agent at Infopass called me to let me know service center approved my request.

12-01-12- Advance parole received in the mail (2 page version, not combo card)

You register with DHL when you pay for your appointment for the medical and for the consulate interview. There should be an option when you go to schedule the appointments for you to register for DHL in the system. At least it was that way when I went through Vancouver. I imagine the Montreal Consulate would do it the same way for you. So no, you probably can't register with DHL ahead of time.

I'm not sure about your other two questions, hopefully someone more knowledgeable will be able to help.

It usually takes MTL couple of weeks to send P3 although you never know with them. Keep calling. Don't send anything until MTL has sent P3. You can register DHL after you send P3 and get approval to schedule your interview.

I don't think that renewing your passport would be a big problem. You will probably have a lot of time between now and your interview. And if I remember correctly it has to be valid for at least 6 months after they issue your visa...

From the messages boards that I have been seeing, people have been saying to send packet 3 without waiting for the consulate to send their instructions as some people never receive it. I have already registered for DHS service and am trying to pay the fee for my visa but the system won't let me. This whole process is very confusing.

The thing that confuses me about when to sign up for DHL is that on the checklist it says Courier# and a blank line. I am assuming that is my DHL stuff. I got this from the link they sent us to look at when they sent us the notification the NVC had sent our stuff to Montreal.
