Yeah I probably just need to be a little more patient, I am a little worried because I ticked the box saying 'status as permanent resident' on the g-325a form instead of ticking 'other' and putting 1-130 but it's pretty obvious it's an 1-130 since we are both here in Ireland and we stated in the cover letter what we were applying for, I'm more worried the package was lost or something but I'm probably just paranoid, just hope I hear soon.

You and me both. My wife's visa is finished, now we jsut waiting for an update on our boys'. Good luck.

Hi there everyone, thank you very much for all your responses.

I am assuming the response of the NOA1 would take at least a month from date of postage anyway so I wouldn't be too worried Anthony. By the way, did you send it to Chicago via registered postage? There should be a tracking number with it.

To 'forgiven4saken' and 'pushbrk', I think I should put down my mother in laws address just in case as we have quite a bit of history at that address and so if anything does need to be sent to or from there it won't be a problem. Although we will eventually be residing in CA we will be stopping by for visiting etc at her mums house, for a few days at least anyway.

Your answers are quite helpful, thanks you.

@forgiven4saken, yes perhaps if you could do a mock up for this website, I think it would be helpful for a lot of couples in the future. If it were to be sent to a moderator of VJ?

By the way we are going the CR-1 route, I wonder if this would change any of the above responses?

kind regards,

Paul

Yeah I am hoping it is normal to take this long, the only reason I worry is that looking at everyone else's timeline on here the initial NOA1 seems to only take a maximum of 2 weeks and thats to receive the physical coply let alone the email confirmation, it's 3 weeks now for me and still no word, I guess every case is different though. I did register the package but unfortunately I can only track it as far as the status of 'received in the US' and that was ages ago so I assume that was received at the port of entry not necessarily the Chicago lockbox. As far as your question re going the CR-1 route you get issued a CR-1 if you have been married less than two years at the time the visa is issued, then after two years you have to apply to remove the conditional status (and pay a fee I understand) otherise you are issued an IR-1 which is good for 10 years I believe.

Hi, sorry I was mistaken, we are going the IR-1 route, as we are married for almost 3 years. Does anyone have any experience of this route?

@Anthony, where are you hopping to move to in CA? PM me if you like?

Hi All,

I am in exactly the same situation as the guys here. Married to my American wife who I have been with for about11 years and we've lived together for about 8 of those in Ireland. At the moment we have the G325A file to fill out for both me and her. We have all of the information necessary and we just need to book an appointment up in the Dublin consulate for her interview.

I'm just wondering what is next after this?

Do I need to go back up there for another interview after this?

Are they going to look for more information? if so, what kind of information? Just so that we can have it all ready. I am getting a letter from the company I work for stating that I will be in full time employment when I enter the US.

Will they look for information on relatives in the US or where will we be staying when we get there etc...

I would just like to have all of the information at hand so that I can send it or bring it with me to speed up the process a bit. it took 3 months for me to receive this form after Green card payment and the I-130 form.

thanks & regards,

locman
