So our interview is at 11 am on March 27. I just wanted to find out how long most of you took at the interview to get an idea of what is a safe time to book flights back home that day? I don't want to be stuck roaming around Sydney with my bags for hours but also don't want to be rushed and paniced to get to the airport?

My interview was scheduled for 8 am but i was there early and as it was early in the morning i was out by eight thirty i think and back at the hotel shortly after that, lol. I'm not sure if it gets more backed up as the day goes on though. I had my flights booked for six (didn't want to risk missing a flight if my interview was long). My Aunty was with me though so we went and saw the harbor bridge, opera, had lunch etc. Plus the hotel looked after our bags until we were ready to go to the airport :)

My interview was for 10am. I was there early (about 9.30am) but was sent away and told to come back at 10am ( they looked like they were pretty busy at that time). So it was closer to 10.30am before I was sent up for the interview.

All up I think I was only there for about an hour or so (after I cam back at 10am I mean). Your interview is first thing, so that may help get you through quicker (may not get back-logged at security like they seemed to be the day I was there)

If you allow a couple of hours you should be fine.

Hi,

We are in a very similar situation.

I am US citizen and my husband an Australian PR. We got to know in 8th February when we called the NVC his case was completed. And they were waiting for a interview date.

To check they had tried to schedule the interview in Colombo because thats where he was originally when we applied for the I130. But we had sent subsequent documents asking them to transfer the case to Sydney. When I called the NVC today the operator said case is completed and now waiting to schedule an interview in Sydney. And usually interviews are scheduled on the 2nd week of the month and there are non available in March. Looking at your interview date of 27th March, what the operator said does not seem to be true.

Could you pls let us know how soon did you hear about your interview date after the case was completed. And how you hear about the date.

I am leaving to US soon as I have got a job and hoping & praying my husband can join me soon.

Thanks

I would just wait to hear from Sydney, I don't think what the NVC operator was right, as far as i know Sydney do interviews every tuesday until midday.

Hi, I had my interview yesterday and I went up the lift at 10:35am, to 10th floor. Was sent straight up and got my number and was called before I even sat down. BUT - we didn't leave the embassy till 12:15pm. There were a couple of interviews that took a while and one in particular that had 2 CO's in the booth. That slowed things down a little. We really enjoyed having time to sit and take it all in, call and text people and just get used to the idea after the approval. Went and celebrated at the Lindt Chocolatier...my daughter can't go into a bar yet, too young!

My flight left at 5pm and the motel looked after the baggage for us. Was good to have 2 hours spare to get to the airport.

Good luck with your interview.

I stayed at the Mercure not far from the consulate. Had a double room Aunt which cost about $170 for the night and they held our bags for us too until we were ready to go to the airport. I think a lot of people also stay at the travel lodge on Philip street.....there's another place I've heard people stay at but i can't remember what it's called......

the Travel lodge want $380 because I have 2 children so it's like double the cost just to house the little buggers. I object to that because I could stay in the same room for half the price if I didn't declare the kids!! Looks like I will just have to suck it up though :( I will try the mecure thanks.
