Hello people.Pls i have a question about birth certificate in Nigeria.For those that have gone through lagos embassy,what type of birth certificate do the embassy accept?do they accept the one from national population commission or the one from the local govt were you were born?And also what does the birth cert from the local govt look like?

Greetings, You are welcome. Go to the Local Government office. Make sure you get the "LONG FORM". I say this because there is a short pocket form that the NVC will not accept. If you have more questions email me and I'll get right back.

It must show your names,date of birth, place of birth, the names of your parents and their places of birth etc

It must also be signed and stamped/sealed & dated by an official.

Just a friendly FYI the OP will not be sending the birth certificate to the NVC because they are applying for K1 they will only need birth certificate at the embassy....I didnt want the OP to be confused....

Yes you will go with you birth certificate... And I get mean at national population commissio it long one the one I got from my LGA was short one...Goodluck

You go with the long form if you go to the national population and tell them you need a birth certificate to present at the embassy to travel abroad to the USA they will know the exact one you need...good luck!

thanks patient2010 for the reply,so i can go to the embassy with the birth certificate from the national population comm.Am so confuse,have read on some peoples post that the embassy dont accept the long BC which is from the national population commision,that they only accept the short one wich is from the local govt.
