Hello all- a few questions re AOS, do I have to wait untill the AOS is done before applying for a EAD or travel document? The AOS I-485 covers myself and 2 children correct? No need to apply seperate for them? Where do I find the non immigrant visa # they requsted, is it the # on the bottom of my passport? The final question- can I apply for the travel doc's for the kids and I ASAP? - with the intent to have multiple journeys across the Canadian US border. Help, and thanks, Meliss.

You can apply for EAD and AP along with your AOS application. Once AOS is done and you have the permanent resident card, you won't need either of them. They are only good for while you are waiting for your AOS to be complete.

Your visa number is the red number on your visa.

You will need an AOS application for each person adjusting status.

You will need separate AP for each person wishing to travel.

You will need separate EAD for each person wishing to work.

VisaJourney.com has wonderful guides: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...amp;page=guides

It is very likely that most of your question are answered there.

Additionally, members will be able to help you more efficiently if you provide your timeline.

Currently, it seems that you are just applying for K1. K1/K2 applicants are sometimes handled differently when AOS-ing - they are being fasttracked, the whole process can take under 2 months depending on your local offcie - yet another reason to provide that information.

In the case of fast processing application for EAD, AP is pretty much a waste of money - AOS would be approved before EAD and AP.

USCIS does not return money :)
