Hi, dear all,

My mom is scheduled to send materials at Feb 2, 2012, and see visa officer at Feb 3, 2012. I put all the notary certificates in on envelop and all other supporting materials in another envelop.

When she sent materials to US consulate in Guangzhou, the officer return some files to her, including my marriage certificate, birth certificate, also including my mom's expired passport, visa extend approval form (she extended her visa in 2001) and form I230. So when she went to interview next day, the visa officer told my mom that you miss expired passport, visa extend approval form, it make mom very nerves, she thought that all the files needed are still in the envelop I prepared for her and forgot that some of files were returned to her previous day, so she got a blue note to ask her apply missing documents, but in fact that all the files are in her hand.

I make me very disappointed. Does anybody has this kind of experience? Since all the materials are required for interview, why they return some of them back before interview? Also I remember that if interview is passed, the petitioner need to sign I230 on page 4 after interview, why they return I230 to my mom while document collection step??

Thanks ahead!

the folk doing document intake are chinese nationals -

and really are slipshod at their jobs.

but as for this set of documents - she should have passed them over at the beginning of the interview - stating 'your worker not take these documents yesterday - here they are'

The Beginning of the interview is basically the 'only time' that's useful, to handle document discrepancies.

By the end of the interview? it's too late - the VO already noted his decision on the visa application paperwork.

I'm sorry this happened to yer mum - sounds like she was overwrought and could not handle things quickly.

The RFE should be easy - I pray things go quickly for yer mum.
