No you need to use your SYD case number. Once your petition is approved it is sent from USCIS to NVC, who assigns the new number (in your case it will start with SYD) and then they send it to Sydney. You can either call NVC to get your case number (you'll need to give them your NOA case number that starts with EAC or WAC) or else wait till the Sydney consulate emails you with package 3, your SYD number will be in that email.

Which doctor are you using? The one in Melbourne did not need the number, although I think some doctors in the other cities might.

When you call to make the medical appointment just ask them if you can do it without a case number. I had my case number when i had my medical with Dr. Okraglik but when i made the appointment i didn't have it and they said it was fine to do it without

Finally time for AOS.......

12/07/11 Sent AOS package

12/09/11 AOS package delivered

12/14/11 Received NOA for I-485 and I-765 (we're not applying for AP)

12/22/11 Received letter for Biometrics

01/04/12 Biometrics in Phoenix

01/31/12 Received email update from USCIS saying that we've been scheduled for an interview

02/03/12 Got an email saying card production had been ordered for my EAD...now just to wait for the card...

02/09/12 Received email saying EAD card has been sent

02/13/12 Received EAD card :D :D :D :D

03/06/12 Interview in Phoenix :).....Approved :D

03/14/12 Received Green card in mail.....

....no more USCIS until December 2013

Is the number needed for the medical (before Consulate interview)the Alien number? Some clarification would be greatly appreciated.

i needed my case number for the one in brisbane city... but some other cities dont need them :)
