How long until he has his visa in hand?

My fiance's interview is 2/14 (valentines day go figure), and we're starting to look at plane tickets to he can save money. I know there's the possibility of him not getting approved, but from all the stories I've read on here and the huge success rate people have in London, I'm not too worried about it.

I was wondering for those of you who have been approved at the embassy, how long did it take after your interview until you had your passport back in your hand? I've heard anywhere from 3 to 14 business days, but I'm not sure what's more realistic. How did you go about booking plane tickets, did you book them before or after your interview?

If you have the money to lose then just wait and buy a next day airfare ticket.

or buy a ticket that can be changed-sometimes a 250 dollar fee plus the cost of that ticket is higher than a nonrefundable ticket

They told me a week to ten days but I had mine in two - interview Tuesday, visa arrived Thursday.

you need to wait.. UNTIL you have VISA in hand.. just to be safe..

if you are gambling person.. then BUY the ticket..

but don't say you were not warned about the possibility

My fiance had his in 3 days. His interview was on a Tuesday and they delivered it on Friday. Not too bad in our case anyway

I had my interview on the Tuesday and my passport with visa was delivered to me on the following Monday. I used the tracking number provided by the courier to check whether the courier had received a package for me from the embassy. They picked it up from the embassy on the Friday morning so I knew it was on its way.

All this information is very helpful. I think we'll just wait until he has it in his hand because knowing our luck, it'll take longer than usual for the mail to get to his house. I just hope the ticket prices aren't too high if he's buying them on such short notice. Did everyone here buy a one way?
