Curious about the old ACH at GUZ

I know I am going to ACS for my notary work on my EOR, I feel better having a consulate notary than a California one, so they know I am nearby.

But about ACH, I know they stopped doing it, but I looked around and noticed some people getting a negative opinion or scolding of attempting to attend ACH in the past at GUZ?

I am not a member of the other forums, but wondered if that was true to some extent that it had some negative effect rather than positive, if the USC was to bother attending ACH while in Guangzhou, when it existed.

I am just asking about the history of the old ACH that GUZ had. And trying to see if anyone comes up with any reason why some people were warned to not go to ACH. I thought having a chance to talk about your own petition and being present was always a good thing?

eh - there was some notice by the USConsul account at CFL, stating that to go to ACH just to notarize the EOR and to 'let the VO's know you were there' was deemed a waste of their time. If you drill a bit, you can find it there at CFL.

OTOH, many (including myself) thought that going into ACH prior to interview date to get the EOR notarized was a good thing, as the folk then doing the work were the actual VOs doing the interviews.

OTOH - ACH for USCs AFTER the interview date, to try to get a decision overturned - THAT, imo, is what killed the ACH process, in toto.

YMMV, greatly, of course.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Oh now I can see how going after the interview and a denial to try to mess with the VOs at ACH would have really done it.

But I would agree that it would be often a natural reaction for getting a visa denied.

I am sure the way ACS is set up now is completely independent from the VO section, so I am not expecting anyone to even remember me or have any impact on the upcoming interview, except that I get a notarial sheet for my updated EOR to be placed with my passport for my wife to bring to the interview.

Thought I saw it some where, I guess it was not very current, good idea. Probably a budget or participation thing.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

I attended ACH when GUZ still offered it and found it to be very beneficial. I had a couple of questions about our case and the VO was more than happy to help me out. I have no idea why GUZ decided to stop offering ACH while the Beijing Embassy as well as the Shanghai Consulate both still offer ACH for non-immigrant visas (Mondays in BJ and Tuesdays in SH).

I never intended nor did I go to the ACH. I planned everything to the period on every document I prepared and had no desire to pay high fees for a notarization to just say "hey I'm here"

I rather spent my hard earned money on bad hot chocolate on the 4th floor

this is the story of the universe.. a few people ruin a good pure idea by circumventing process and rules and try to adjudicate their denials in any forum they can think of. I don't fault people from wanting access to the only people who have decided their lives in a blink of an eye, just saying it ruined this nice service for everyone.
