Hello,

Just looking for suggestions. My wife got bad information from her friend about what her name would be after marriage. Because of that the name she gave me to use for her I-130 was wrong I believe. My wife has 4 names not three. However, on the I-130 I put(for example) Maria crunes De Jones, instead of Maria Juvies Crunes De Jones. Juvies being her middle name and Crunes being her fathers last name. On her passport that she just received, the name is Maria Juvies Crunes De Jones. Should I just go ahead and Put this name on the passport or put the name I used on the I-130(Maria Crunes De Jones). I know the visa will be issued to the name on the passport, but just wondering if i should put that name on DS-230 or stick with the name I put on I-130. Thanks.

Matt

I suggest that you list all names that she used on the DS 230 and if you need additional space, attach another sheet of paper referencing the form number, names of the beneficiary and petitioner and the Question # and list additional names she used.

Hope that helps. Good luck.

You need to use the name on her passport. When filling out the ds-230, you will need her complete legal name (name on passport). If you are past the I-130 stage and preparing the DS-230, then the name on the DS-230 will take precedent. In other words, even if you left a name out on the I-130, the name presented on the IV application has precedence.

I tell you this via experience. On my I-130, I left out my wife's Mother's name. When fill out the IV form I included the name and that is how the embassy sees it. My wife's name is like Sonia Maria Noriega Guerra de MacLeod. Use the full name as it is on the passport. You do not need to backtrack on the I-130.

Buena suerte,

Magnus
