Hi All.. I did some searching but could not find the answer on the forum and timeline guides.

My Fiance arrived as K1 Fiance Visa.

After arrival nov 21st..we got married on Dec 13th

Today Dec 19th we went to the SSA office with our marriage certificate and requested a SSN and for them to make it in her new last name (she is taking my last name).

However the SSA admin told us we should NOT do that because there would be no SSN record because her I94 is in her maiden name. I went along with her suggestion and am now unsure how to make sure I get her green card in her married name. I don't know how to make sure her green card will be in her new married last name when filling out the i485.

TLDR: How do i get my fiance now wife a green card in her new last name..ssn is in her maiden name.

Fill in all further paperwork to USCIS in married name, include anew G-325 (biographical information) with the AOS packet to reflect the name change. On all forms where it says previous names used, you write her maiden name. When she gets her greencard you can change it with SSA. I had the same issue :)

Congratulations on your marriage!

I filed my SSN with my maiden name before we got married. After I got the marriage license, I went to the SS Office to change the SS Card maiden name to my husband's family name. No trouble. I filled up the SS form and after 4days I got my SS card with my husband's family name.

Sometimes it depends on the ssa rep that will assist you however here's what ive done, i filed for AOS under my married name and ssn under my maiden name. Once i get my gc, im going to update my ssn, drivers lic and passport to my married name.
