Hello friends,

I would like to apply for US citizenship. I was married overseas to US citizen in Feb 2006, moved to USA and got my temporary Resident card in Sept 2006. I received my 10 year Permanent RC in 2009 (after removing condition). My husband and I divorced in July 2010. Am I going to apply under LPR 5 year rule? Are there any complications with citizenship process after being divorced?

Thank you!

No problems. You apply under the 5 year rule, which has alreayd passed, so you can apply anytime you like. Your divorce/ former husband is not an issue.

Thanks for the reply! Do I have to send my tax returns and pay stubs? I was a student and didn't really have any income.

No need for that. Just send in the following:

1. Filled-out N-400 form

2. Photocopy of front AND back of your greencard

3. Two passport-style photos

4. Check for the filing fee

Regarding taxes, it is advised to have tax transcripts with you during the interview in case the officer asks for them. You can order those transcripts from the IRS but as I said, you do not need to put them into your application. Just have them with you at the interview.
