I pray you realize that rolling through with a K-3 is not country specific, at all.

There's a quickie review at NVC with the casefiles come in - and if they see the approved I-129F WITH the approved I-130, the I-129F is administratively closed, regardless of where the casefile is ultimately headed.

So, if I were you, I'd back off 'the country' bit, in toto, as rolling through with a K-3 is NEVER country specific.

In the end, you were lucky. Congrats on the approval, as well.

You need to read my post again. You will see I said " people told me K3's are not being accepted in DR" ...... This is obviously not something I would say since I filed and went to a K3 interview. I'm aware it's not country specific. But senior members on here have given me advice in the early stages if my process that it was country specific therefore it would not be approved. NVC did receive both I130 and I129F together but failed to close the I129F.

It does happen. It did happen. As much as no one wants to be called out on being wrong on information they provide to others.......the facts are right there on my timeline.

I only saved one month by doing the K3 as they were willing to process the CR1 on Oct 15 but we had already received the interview letter on Oct 1 for the K3 and were strongly advised by the Visa Specialists to go forward with it and not skip the interview.

The point is, I think it's beneficial for anyone else in my similar situation to be aware this could happen instead of being misguided and be told its impossible.

Also, some members have different motives than others when it comes to putting themselves out as "professionals".

I agree. Some are truly wanting to help. Others are out for VJ recognition. Which is completely pathetic

Hey - I got your point, in the end. My apologies for seeming dense.

I'm not trying to be rude by any means or attack anyone. But honestly, I spent the majority of these last 6 months extremely stressed, oftentimes crying, thinking about the day of the interview and us being ridiculed for the K3. That didn't happen. I'm aggravated people don't investigate their info more before they answer questions. That's all

I am currently working AOS papers for a K3/4 cousin in law and daughter. They do rarely allow the K3 route but it is more expensive and you do have to file AOS in country. In the last 12 months I have only seen about 10 K3's here this being one of them. At times I think they did this just to mess with this couple and interview them one more timem, but who knows.

You're right. It's rare. When I started this, I looked to VJ from beginning to end for guidance. When I went to file and was completely unaware of any of the available petitions, the first one I saw was K3 on here so I thought this was the only option. I was also told I couldn't file a CR1 because I hadn't been married for one year.....which turned out to be bogus info also.

It was after the NOA 1 and 2 was received unbelievably fast that people began questioning why I filed a K3 and this is when all of the "advice" began trickling in.

I agree, in 2011 the K3 is pointless. During its origin back in the day it was more beneficial but nowadays it not necesarry. Nevertheless, someone like myself having been unfamiliar with the other options may need to know what can really happen if the K3 is ultimately filed.

Keep in mind you said rare and not impossible. I understand the rarity of it as I was told many times by NVC that it could be administratively closed. I am fully aware of the process. But.....there are cases, such as mine, where NVC drops the ball. These are situations that need to be recognized as possibilities.

It is an extra expense of 500 dollars as compared to the CR1 where I would have paid 492 dollars and now I will pay 500 more, equalling the 1040 Dollar AOS fee.

Regardless of what has been happening, people need to be aware this could happen to them and not be made to think it it completely impossible or they will be denied for this reason. It's absolute ignorance to insinuate a petition will be denied just because people giving the advice are unfamiliar with all of the possibilities.

K3 is possible currently but when the I-129F DOES get through NVC, it's an exception and NOT a country specific exception by any means. Counting on the K3/K4 route is particularly dangerous when children are involved. Always file the I-130 for each intending immigrant.

You have the fees wrong. The $492 is replaced by a $350 visa application fee paid in cash abroad. You then pay $1070 to adjust status, so the difference is not $500, it's $928.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
Understanding the big picture is priceless. Anonymous
