Mom's maiden name spelt wrong Pls help!!!

hi,

I just discovered few days back that I have always spelt my mom's maiden name wrong( omitted just one letter 'L'). I came into the U.S through I-140 petition so immigration(and some financial houses) already has my version of the name in their system as far back as 2005.

I found this out when she sent me her sworn declaration of age.

The name is a coloquial name hardly used these days( her side of the family are the only ones I know that bear that name ) and so I never saw how it is spelt but in the pronunciation, the omitted letter 'L' is never pronounced.

i am about to submit her documents ; AOS and IV papers and wondering if this will pose any issues at the NVC and consulate. any similar experiences and opinions will be appreciated.

In filling out the Ds-230 I spelt it my own way and put her version in parenthesis...

I also plan to send a personal note explaining the spellings...will this raise eyebrows on an issue that might have been overlooked?

Ok I see my post was read SEVERAL TIMES without response...so it must be some unique situation.

I want to share my experience for future purpose.

It happened I GOT the spelling right as per my mom; I had to call and ask her later( I knew she NEVER spelt her maiden name with that alphabet included ). Apparently, a cousin who is a court clerk and in charge of helping her with affidavits to get the Birth certificate typed in the other version of the name without asking my mom how her family spelt theirs...and my mom did NOT think there was a need to correct( afterall its all the same name( not with US IMMIGRATION!!!)

Long story short...i thought A LOT about it and decided to:

redo another DS-230 with BOTH VERSIONS of the name under "any other names/aliases used". I typed the version used on the documents first and then placed my version in brackets... that way if they look into my immigration file from the past and find that spelling, they wnt raise their eyebrow.

i thought of writing a personal letter to NVC explaining something about the two names but I decided against that last minute.

my case JUST COMPLETED NVC stage this morning...so the form was accepted!!!

So i did it the other way, ;FIRST put the one on the legal documents and then put my version(even though I found out its the right spelling afterall) in brackets....and NO did not write that letter.
