My fiancee in Indonesia needs her birth certificate translated into english. Does anyone know who and how this can be done or name and number of a company either here or in usa where is not expensive? Or where can she go to? According to others, her birth certificate needs to be translated into english. I live in NJ

If she is fluent in english as well she can do it herself. If not, whoever is fluent in both languages can do it.

I read online that she or her family member can not do it. If she gets a friend to do it, does it have to be notarized or will just a plain statement do? Did you also did the whole process on your own or did you use an attorney?

Does she need it for the K1? Isn't she having her interview in her own country (assuming they speak the same language)?.. I did not need my birth certificate translated for k1, however I did need it for the AOS.

She can do it herself, ANYONE that is fluent in both languages can do it, the translation does not need to be notarized, they just have to write/sign the certification at the end. My link

I did k1 and AOS process all by myself and had no RFE and no problems at all, however my case was pretty easy (no illegal presence, no other marriages, etc etc). If you case is pretty straight forward I recommend do it yourself, this website is a great resource and everyone here helps a lot.

From what I read, birth certificate translation only needed prior to interview at consulate. According to your post, seems you are not filed yet I-129F, are you? There are many companies in Indonesia offer translate of documents called Penterjemah Tersumpah. She can find them close to embassies area. I was there when I took photograph for my previous visa application. Good luck.
