I need help with this since I can't find a posting on this. I'm about to start the k1 process (my fiance is in china and I'm in the USA) and everything seems in order except one thing: financial requirements. I have been a graduate student the past couple years, so I can't show them my previous two or three year tax returns since it is below the federal minimum requirements and can't get a co-sponsor at this point. However, I just got a job this year making way over the federal minimum income requirements for the k1. Therefore, could I just show them pay check stubs, employment contract and deposits and still be fine with the financial requirements or will I have a good chance of denial?

Thank you so much for your help!

You have to also provide proof as to why you did not file tax returns because they are a required document.

From the sounds of it, you will likely need a co-sponsor to go through China.

Who can the co-sponsor be? Can it be a friend or relative (I'm assuming it would have to be someone who is a U.S. citizen)?

I have a similar problem. I graduated from college last year, but I did not make anywhere near the financial requirements. Now, I definitely make enough money. Is it okay to have my bank and employment letters, along with tax returns where I did not make enough money? Or, do I need a sponsor? My lawyer seems a little confused on this issue....ugh.
